What clients typically want to know before an EMC or PCB review — answered briefly and honestly.
What does an EMC pre-compliance review cost?
The pre-compliance review is offered as a fixed-price package. I quote the exact price after a short description of your project — it depends on the size of the assembly and the number of interfaces. A re-spin or a failed test slot typically costs many times more.
Do you work remotely or on-site?
Reviews and development support run mostly remotely — based on your schematic and layout data, with online walkthroughs. For selected projects in the Rhine-Neckar region an on-site meeting is possible.
Will you sign a non-disclosure agreement (NDA)?
Yes. Confidentiality is a given — I'm happy to sign your NDA before you share any documents. Case studies are only ever published anonymized and with your explicit approval.
Which CAD tools and data formats do you work with?
For reviews, PDF exports of the schematic and layout plus the Gerber/ODB++ data are usually enough. For active development support I work in common ECAD tools depending on the project; ask me about yours.
How quickly can you start?
That depends on current capacity — you'll find the status on the About page. For a pre-compliance review I usually plan around five working days from receipt of the complete documents.
Do you also carry out the EMC measurements yourself?
I don't perform accredited measurements — my focus is finding and avoiding EMC problems in the design before you go to the test chamber. On request I support the preparation of the test and the interpretation of the results.
